The so called double chin is in fact a variation of the chin
structure, where instead out of 1 part the chin is composed of 2 parts
with a hollow area between the two. This problem affects both genders
and is usually genetic, even though this doesn't have to be the case.
Because of the increased activity of chin muscles the chin starts
dividing into two parts. To correct this issue, it is necessary to
weaken the muscles with botox which causes the muscle to loosen up and
the skin evens out, while the hollow part becomes smaller or
disappears.
Another way to solve this problem is to use fillers which mechanically fill out the hollow skin part . Usually, various types of fillers are used but I personally give a slight advantage to does which are not permanent. Usually only one botox treatment is enough, and depending on the size of the hollow skin fillers can be added later. For best results we advise treatment as soon as possible, although it is never to late. Botox can show results up to 3 to 9 months, and results with fillers vary depending on the filler type used. Results with fillers approximately last from 9 to 24 months. Periodical botox maintenance treatments are advised once every 1- 2 years.
